tony gagliano

The FIU Creative Writing family lost one of our own last week with the passing of Tony Gagliano. Tony was a sweet and a fiercely honest writer. His novel Straits of Fortune. The starred Booklist review compared Tony favorably to Carl Hiassen and Randy Wayne White. We're going to miss him.

Sorry to hear about the loss.

I had the pleasure of meeting him last summer when he substituted for a professor and conducted the lecture. Our class read his story in Miami Noir, "Blown Away," and had the honor of discussing it with him. This is a terrible loss for us all.
